Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) is supplied as liquefied gas under pressure. SG Trading can review both cylinder and tube trailer enquiries. The larger package is a valid option for SF6, but it should be selected from the required fill quantity, receiving capability, route and equipment-return plan rather than from product name alone.
1. State the end use before choosing the package
Identify whether the enquiry relates to electrical, electronic or another technical application. The buyer, consignee, end user and final destination are required for commercial and trade-compliance review. Application context also determines which quality limits, filling arrangement and documents need to be agreed.
Do not assume that material suitable for one use automatically meets another acceptance basis. State any customer specification, relevant process restriction and whether the package will enter an established recovery or handling system.
2. Use the quality table as a starting point
The published typical profile uses an SF6 purity of at least 99.995 mass %. It also lists water at no more than 15 ppmw, combined oxygen, nitrogen and air at no more than 0.005 mass %, carbon tetrafluoride at no more than 0.0001 mass %, and separate limits for acidity, hydrolyzable fluorides, mineral oil and sulfur-containing impurities.
These values describe a typical specification, not a shipment result. The agreed specification defines acceptance and the batch Certificate of Analysis reports the supplied product. State any tighter or additional requirements and the reporting units before quotation. The quality page explains this document boundary.
3. Define a cylinder request completely
For cylinder supply, state the required SF6 mass per cylinder, cylinder water capacity, valve, package ownership, inspection status and number of units. Confirm whether the buyer accepts supplier-owned cylinders and where empties must be returned. Customer-owned cylinders require technical data and certificates for filling acceptance.
Quantity should be expressed in a commercial unit that can be checked against filling and shipment documents. A request for “one cylinder” without size or fill quantity is not a complete basis.
4. Treat a tube trailer as an equipment cycle
For a tube trailer, provide the required total fill, unit identity, ownership, design and operating data, valve or manifold interface, current certificates, route and site access. Confirm the receiver can connect, unload and isolate the package safely. The packaging overview provides the wider equipment context.
If supplier equipment is used, agree the unloading window, free-use period, return point, residual condition and party responsible for empty return cost. If buyer equipment is used, submit certificates and technical information before filling. The word “tube trailer” does not replace this equipment data.
5. Build delivery terms around the actual route
State destination country and city, named delivery point, Incoterm, required date and any transit limitation. Carrier acceptance, package documentation, road permissions, port or border handling and destination access can affect feasibility. The commercial offer should show which party controls each stage.
Where a returnable package is involved, outbound delivery and empty return form one logistics cycle. Time allowed for unloading and documentation at the receiving site should be agreed before dispatch.
6. Request the documents that the receiver needs
Typical records can include the agreed specification, batch CoA, current SDS, package certificate and transport documentation. Identify language, consignee naming, legalization or original-document requirements early. Do not use a public quality table as a substitute for current shipment documents.
End use, purity and impurity limits, fill quantity and unit, cylinder or tube trailer, valve or manifold, ownership, equipment certificates, buyer and consignee, destination, Incoterm, unloading time, return responsibility and documents.
7. Keep product supply separate from inspection service
The structured RFQ records SF6 product and package requirements. If the need is a leak search, site audit or periodic inspection rather than gas supply, use the separate inspection-service guide. A service scope and a product quotation can relate to the same equipment, but they require different acceptance criteria and deliverables.
