Measurement and verification

Calibration Gases & Mixtures

Define the mixture for your measurement task.

The useful specification connects composition, concentration, uncertainty, packaging and the instrument's operating requirements.

Start with the application

A mixture is more than a gas name.

Tell us what you need to calibrate or verify: the instrument, measurement range, sample matrix and target components. This provides the basis for reviewing a suitable mixture and its documentation.

The cylinders shown here illustrate a packaged calibration-gas shipment. Their appearance does not identify the composition, concentration or certification of the contents.

What to include in your enquiry

A specification or instrument method is a useful starting point. If a requirement is not yet defined, identify it for technical review.

Composition & measurement

  • Components and balance gas
  • Concentrations and units, including the concentration basis
  • Instrument, application and measurement range
  • Required tolerances and measurement uncertainty

Package & quantity

  • Total quantity and number of cylinders
  • Cylinder water capacity and ownership
  • Fill pressure and reference temperature
  • Valve outlet and connection requirements

Documents & delivery

  • Required stability period and storage conditions
  • Certificate content and traceability requirements
  • Destination and named Incoterm place
  • Required delivery date and repeat demand
Documentation is mixture-specific. Feasibility, stability, analytical method, uncertainty and traceability are confirmed for the agreed composition and package. A certified reference material or accredited certificate must be explicitly requested and confirmed; neither is implied for every mixture.

The safety document register contains product-specific references. Request the applicable SDS for the actual mixture; a pure-gas SDS is not a substitute.
